While Shanks’ ultimate influence is unknown, A Different Kind of Truth is heavier than any VH album since and is arguably the most aggressive Van Halen album ever! It is also devastatingly efficient. Working from the smash and grab blueprint of their early recordings, most of the songs clock in at under four minutes.
